10 - GOLDEN DAYS AGAIN - The Wonders

(1965 Closing Track — Expanded Archives Edition) (Soft guitar harmonics and distant tambourine) Intro Yeah yeah… Ooooh… Summer’s coming back again… (Full band enters gently) Verse 1 Saturday sun across the town Kids still laughing up and down Every window glowing bright Like the world belonged to the night Your blue sweater in the breeze Fireflies drifting through the trees And somewhere by the riverside We believed the days would never die Pre-Chorus We were running through the light Like time was on our side Chorus Golden days again Spinning through my heart like then Every song and every sound Still keeps turning round and round Golden days again Like the summer never ends Every memory shines somehow Even brighter now Verse 2 Radio humming soft and low Late night streets with nowhere to go Movie signs and neon rain Calling out our names again You were dancing near the arcade glow Laughing like you’d never grow old And all the nights we thought were small Now feel like they meant it all Pre-Chorus Funny how the years move fast But some moments always last Chorus Golden days again Spinning through my heart like then Every song and every sound Still keeps turning round and round Golden days again Like the summer never ends Every memory shines somehow Even brighter now Bridge (layered harmonies) Ooooh… Can you hear the old songs play… Ooooh… Calling from another day… Instrumental Break (Bright melodic guitar solo with tambourine and organ swelling softly underneath) Verse 3 Now the nights feel colder somehow But I still see us there now Running underneath the lights Dreaming through those endless nights Every station on the air Still feels like you’re somewhere there And when the evening starts to fall I can almost hear it all Final Chorus Golden days again Coming back like long lost friends Every shadow, every light Still survives inside the night Golden days again Like they never truly end Somewhere drifting through the years Still alive in here Outro (Long fading harmonies with tape hiss and soft guitar echoes) Golden days again… Golden days again… Ooooh…
