I open up my textbook, and the letters start to dance, Past tense, present perfect— I never stood a chance. I try to memorize it, but it slips out of my brain, Why does learning English always drive me so insane? Oh no, my head is spinning, Oh no, the quiz is beginning! English is so hard! Why is “read” sometimes “red”? Why is “though” not like “tough”? My mind is filled with dread! English is so hard! But I’m trying every day, Someday I’ll speak it smoothly— …Or maybe run away! I practice my pronunciation, but it never sounds quite right, My tongue becomes a pretzel when I talk with all my might. The teacher says “Relax!” but that only makes it worse, I think I need a dictionary… or maybe just a nurse? Oh no, my confidence’s dropping, Oh no, but I won’t stop learning! English is so hard! Why is “put” not like “cut”? Why does “know” ignore the “k”? This language is messed up! English is so hard! Still I’m shouting loud and proud— I’ll keep on studying English, ‘Cause I wanna make you proud! Someday I’ll watch movies with no subtitles at all, Someday I’ll chat with tourists walking in the mall. I know that day is coming, even if it’s kinda far— Till then I’ll scream my heart out like a language superstar! English is so hard! Yeah it's crazy, but it's fun! Even though I wanna quit, I won't stop till I’ve won! English is so hard! But I'll learn it in my style, And when I finally master it— I’ll brag about it with a smile!
