sitting with solitude Like forgetting a promise The room gets quiet to hear ghosts Used to be a voice Sayin I’ll never leave you lonely You laugh when the heart gets Used to things it once thought Stop looking at the doorway Stop participating in the day Between the waiting Between the time She spins globes and picks being free She can’t remember The way somebody’s arms Can make the cold nights feel like summer Make the cold nights feel like summer She promised she’d hold on But promises get lost She sits with solitude Like she forgot about a promise And for the first time in her life she didn’t feel the need to fight it Love didn’t leave her Love changed her mind
