AMARA GRACE — NOTHING NEW TO YOU [Intro – kundu-style drums, wooden strikes, distant group chant] [Group] Eh-yo… eh-yo… Eh-yo… eh… [808 enters] [Amara] Thought I came with news… Mm-mm. You knew. [Hook – melodic, minimal] Nothing new to You Nothing new to You Before I knew what I was going through You knew, You knew Nothing new to You Nothing new to You I don't know what tomorrow gon' do But it ain't nothing new to You [Verse 1 – melodic trap cadence] Walked in with a list, had a lot to say Whole conversation planned on the way First thing out my mouth, “God, look—” Then I had to laugh, You don't need the update You saw that coming, I didn't You knew that answer, I didn't I spent all week tryna figure it out You had it handled from the beginning Okay Maybe I been doing too much Maybe I been thinking too much Trying to tell You what You already know Like somehow You ain't keeping up Nah That don't even sound like You Every single time You came through What showed up brand-new to me Wasn't nothing new to You [Hook] Nothing new to You Nothing new to You Before I knew what I was going through You knew, You knew Nothing new to You Nothing new to You I don't know what tomorrow gon' do But it ain't nothing new to You [Post-Hook – group response] [Amara] Did You know? [Group] YOU KNEW! [Amara] Before me? [Group] YOU KNEW! [Amara] All along? [Group] YOU KNEW! [Amara] That's enough for me. [Verse 2 – harder trap pocket] New day, new situation Same God, no explanation I don't need every detail laid out I know who I'm putting my faith in Something changed? You knew Door got closed? You knew Didn't work how I thought it would? Still ain't news to You That's different I can move different Quit making ten little plans Then asking You to get with it If I'm talking faith, then live it If I gave it to You, then leave it I can't say that I trust Your way Then grab it back every five minutes So here— Take what I can't control Take every question I don't know Whatever tomorrow brings to my door You've seen that one before [Beat Break – 808 drops out, PNG-inspired percussion takes over] [Amara] Who knew first? [Group] HE DID! Who saw it? [Group] HE DID! Who got me? [Group] HE DOES! Then what am I worried for? [Group] NOTHING! [Amara] Again! Who knew first? [Group] HE DID! Who saw it? [Group] HE DID! Who got me? [Group] HE DOES! [Amara] Then I'm good. [808 DROP] [Final Hook – full ensemble] Nothing new to You Nothing new to You Before I knew what I was going through You knew, You knew Nothing new to You Nothing new to You I don't know what tomorrow gon' do But it ain't nothing new to You [Group] YOU KNEW!
