[Verse 1] (quiet) Five PM, December, and the sun gives up, the sky can't choose a color — it picks gray. We're sitting in your car, the windows fogging up, and neither one of us knows what to say. No label, no promise — we never gave it a name, just two coffees going cold as the light slips away. [Chorus] (loud) We're halfway to dark! Halfway to dark! Not dark enough to just forget your face, not bright enough to keep you in this place. Halfway to dark! Halfway to dark! [Verse 2] (quiet) Since September it's been "almost, not quite," your sweater's living on my passenger seat. Not dark enough to just forget your face, not bright enough to keep you in this place. Halfway to dark! Halfway to dark! The sky won't choose, so baby, I choose you — headlights on, let's drive this thing through! [Bridge] (stripped to minimum) Here's what nobody says when it's undefined: a maybe hurts you longer than a no. I'd rather lose you to an answer tonight than keep you in a question — so... [2-second silence — M4] [Final Chorus] (loudest) We're halfway to dark! Halfway to dark! Not dark enough to just forget your face, not bright enough to keep you in this place. Halfway to dark! Halfway to dark! The sky won't choose, so baby, I choose you — headlights on — we're driving this thing through!
