What the Rain Gives, The Rain Takes
There's a mountain Pointing up into the sky Every life it holds, builds up it's core The storms took their toll Over many years But in time, it changed the shape it once held Every drop that feeds the trees Created chaos in gravity All the space that once was full Now open spaces are all that remain [CHORUS] Every storm that came it's way Slowly took it all away Left destruction on sunny days Leaving less green to display There were rainbows, they didn't stay Can't restore what is still gone today Even in the distance, you could see One tall mountain, that still looks complete Every year warm seasons come With love brought from the sun Why did this one carry more change? The ground beneath just couldn't stay still The hillside lost it's hold One heavy boulder Ploughed through them all Then got caught up in the vines Pulled it all down with its weight Rapids born from the storms Tangled together, swallowed whole Some things can't be undone Couldn't stop it, just watch it all happen [CHORUS] Every storm that came it's way Slowly took it all away Left destruction on sunny days Leaving less green to display There were rainbows, they didn't stay Can't restore what is still gone today Even in the distance, you could see One tall mountain, that still looks complete Holding high above the clouds Still holding onto life But slowly breaking underneath The rains continue to take what they give And as I stand upon the mountain Watching the world beneath Feeling the earth shift under my feet While I'm trying hard to breathe.
