Freakquency Flush: Neck Problems | Loosen the Grip

+ Show full styles

[Sound of soft ocean waves, distant, steady] [Soft spoken, unhurried] Breathe... let your neck soften, even for now. You've been holding this steady a long time. Set some of it down here. [Pause] [Arrival] Feel the water beneath you, holding your whole weight without asking you to grip anything. You don't have to keep everything upright right now. The water has you. [Pause] [Framing, warm] This one is for the neck — for the rigidity, the bracing, the need to keep a hand on every outcome. Somewhere inside you there's a memory: maybe the first time you felt that without control everything would go wrong, the worst time you held it all together alone, the last time you said yes to something that wasn't yours to carry, or the quiet dread the next thing slips away too. Let whichever one wants to come forward, come. Nothing to solve tonight. [Spoken, plain — not sung] If you're working with a doctor, chiropractor, or physical therapist for your neck — good, keep doing exactly that. This sits beside it, never instead of it. [Pause] [Box breathing, three rounds] [Spoken, slow, unhurried — roughly one count per second, no melody, no rap cadence] Let's breathe together. In through the nose... one... two... three... four... ...hold... one... two... three... four... [Slower here — exhale unhurried, roughly double the pace of the inhale] Out through the mouth, long and slow... one......two......three......four......five......six......seven......eight... Like a jaw finally unclenching. ...hold... one... two... three... four... [Spoken, same unhurried pace] Again. In... one... two... three... four... ...hold... one... two... three... four... [Exhale slower still, double pace] Out... one......two......three......four......five......six......seven......eight... ...hold... one... two... three... four... [Spoken, same unhurried pace, one more round] In... one... two... three... four... ...hold... one... two... three... four... [Exhale slow and long] Out... one......two......three......four......five......six......seven......eight... ...hold... one... two... three... four... [Pause, longer] [Guided connection] Let the memory come, however clearly it wants to. Notice where it lives in the body — maybe the neck, that low constant brace, like holding up a ceiling. Was there a time you were handed something too big for you before you had the age to carry it? Notice how early you learned that letting go meant everything might fall. Was there a time you watched someone bigger than you lose control, and had to become the steady one? Maybe this started before you had words for it — even before you were fully formed. Speak to the younger you holding this: you didn't have to control everything to be safe. You were allowed to be uncertain and still be okay. [Pause] Not everything resting on you was ever yours to carry. Some of it belongs to someone else's fear. You're allowed to set it back down. [Pause, longer] [The Flush — root to crown] Feel the tide rising, slow and warm, starting low. Red at the base of you, steady as cedar, old as stone — you were safe before you had to grip to prove it. [Pause] Golden light through your middle, warm as ginger — your gut is your compass, not your grip. [Pause] Green light opening through your chest, wide as a garden after rain. It's safe to feel now. [Pause] Blue light rising into your throat and the back of your neck, cool as eucalyptus. Every swallowed "no" can leave now, out through the mouth. [Pause] Indigo behind closed eyes, violet at the crown, light pouring out the top of your head. Feel your neck loosen as the current moves through. Old bracing, old vigilance. Washing out to sea. [Pause, longer] [Old Crap Clearing] [Magnet pass, four rounds, slow] Imagine a gentle magnet at your chin. First pass: up over your face, crown, down the back of your neck, drawing the old grip out. Second pass: same slow sweep. Let what's loosening lift. Third pass: chin to crown to neck, deeper now. Fourth pass: one more time, all the way down. Let the last of it release. [Pause] [Clearing statement, warm and matter-of-fact] And so, gently, we release all of this — the control that was never fully possible, the rigidity that kept you safe once, the fear of softening. Right and Wrong, Good and Bad, Point of Creation and Point of Destruction, all the way back to the beginning, everywhere it began, everywhere it was stored in this body — all the Nines, Shorts, Boys and Beyond. [Pause, longer] [Return] Feel how much lighter the water is now. Your neck a little longer, a little looser than when we started. You're allowed to be held instead of holding everything up alone. When you rise, drink water. Move naturally — roll your shoulders, turn your head slowly side to side, shake it out if it feels good. Keep the river moving. With infinite love and gratitude — and so it is. [Waves fading]
