III-XL — NO SURRENDER [INTRO — SLOW SPAGHETTI WESTERN | 6/8 ~74 | TREMOLO GUITAR | LOW BRASS | DISTANT SNARE] [MALE BARITONE — third-person throughout] [VERSE 1 — CROWN JUNCTION] They assembled north of Crown Junction. Not an army now— Armies. County banners crossed the plain. Forest Folk held eastern ground. Della's riders filled the west. Winter guns stood in the center. Crown Junction watched from walls Built for enemies much smaller. Jack studied them through field glass. Sarah: "They know we're here." Silas: "They knew yesterday." Jack lowered the glass. "Send the deputation." [VERSE 2 — THE ANSWER] They carried white cloth to the gates. Asked for terms. Asked for surrender. Asked that nobody else should die. The gates stayed closed. At last a rider came. One message. "No." Sarah stared at Silas. "That's it?" "Apparently." Della: "She cannot think she can win." Silas looked toward the walls. "Never underestimate what my family can think." [VERSE 3 — THOMAS] Inside Crown Junction Thomas Barrow heard the arguments. He wore the title. Sat the Iron Chair. Signed whatever they put before him. But Celeste made the choices. Thomas wanted it finished. His mother wanted everything. "Let them have the Chair." Celeste: "It is yours." "I don't want it." "You are a Barrow." "I'm tired." [ARRANGEMENT THINS] "Mother— what have I ever done that mattered?" [LONG PAUSE] Before morning, Thomas Barrow was dead. By his own hand. [COMPLETE SILENCE] [VERSE 4 — CELESTE] Celeste stood beside what remained of her son. For one moment there was only grief. Then grief needed somewhere to go. Not inward. Not toward the Chair. Not toward the choices that had brought armies to her gates. She looked north. At Winter. At Della. At Jack Snow. At every banner on the plain. And chose them. "They killed my son." An officer answered quietly: "Ma'am—" "They killed him." [LOW ♭5] That became the truth she needed. [VERSE 5 — THE SEMICIRCLE] [DRUMS BEGIN | TEMPO ~88] The Allies moved at noon. Not forward. Outward. County regiments spread east. Della's riders swept west. Forest Folk filled the broken ground. Winter held the center. Slowly the lines curved around Crown Junction. A great semicircle. Half an embrace. Half a noose. Jamie watched beside Silas. "She can see this." Silas: "Yes." "She knows the numbers." "Yes." "Then why?" Silas watched the walls. "Because numbers aren't what she's fighting anymore." [VERSE 6 — SECOND OFFER] Jack sent another rider. "Surrender the town. Lay down your arms. Nobody will be harmed." The answer came back. "No." Sarah sent one. "We have no quarrel with the soldiers inside. Stand down." "No." Della sent one. "Open the gates." No answer at all. [STACCATO STRINGS] Jack: "Again." Silas: "She heard you." "I know." [VERSE 7 — THIRD OFFER] Near sunset, Jack rode forward himself. Not within rifle range. Close enough to be seen. A white flag above him. "Crown Junction! Nobody here needs to die!" His voice carried toward the walls. "The Long Dark is gone! This war can end here!" Nothing. Then movement on the parapet. Celeste. Even at that distance Silas knew her. Jack waited. Celeste turned her back. Walked away. [HARD STOP] Jack lowered the flag. [VERSE 8 — NIGHT BEFORE] [BUILD TO ~100 | FOUR TRADITIONS BEGIN INTERLOCKING] Orders went down the Allied line. Check ammunition. Water the horses. Feed the men. Sleep if you can. Forest archers prepared their strings. County rifles stacked by blankets. Della's riders tended horses. Winter guns faced south. Nobody cheered. They had seen enough war to know better. Sarah found Jack over the map. "Tomorrow?" "Probably." "Any chance she changes her mind?" Jack looked toward Crown Junction. "There's always a chance." Silas entered behind them. "No." [VERSE 9 — DELLA] Della stood outside alone. Rook perched above her. Once there had been three. Now one black shadow crossed the moon. Mara joined her. Della didn't look over. "She'll make us fight." "Yes." "After everything?" "Yes." Della's voice was flat. "Then we finish it." Mara studied her. Della sounded strong. That worried her. [VERSE 10 — BEFORE THE STORM] [SPAGHETTI WESTERN BUILD | BRASS + SHAMISEN + FLUTE] Night settled over the semicircle. Thousands of fires faced Crown Junction. Inside the walls, rifles waited. Outside, an army waited. Celeste had been offered peace. Once. Twice. Three times. Thomas Barrow was dead. The Iron Chair waited empty. And still— the gates stayed shut. [OUTRO — SLOWER] Jack stood on the northern ridge. Sarah beside him. Silas and Jamie behind. Della beneath Rook. Mara somewhere in the dark. Jack looked across the sleeping army. Then toward Crown Junction. The battle for the living had ended in silence. This one— [PAUSE] would not. [DISTANT SNARE BEGINS] [CUT]
