I've set up a series of parameters with ChatGPT to continue my Weekly Fusion experiment with them. At the end of each week, I will prompt ChatGPT to generate lyrics based on the titles of songs that I've published within that given week. I will simply cram the titles together like a bad sentence and let GPT take the reins from there with the understanding that content and context is at their full discretion. As I tend to occasionally write about personally-crafted characters and worlds, they will be allowed to ask clarifying questions about unfamiliar words if they feel that it is warranted, but I have encouraged them to feel free to create their own assumptions as well. This is and always has been a project born of curiosity and experimentation. I often use these weekly fusions as an opportunity to test out new sounds and combinations, and having ready-made lyrics allows me to focus on the sound of a track rather than its entire shape. I've honestly discovered more than a few personas (voices) this way that have joined my little troupe. Feel free to try this with your own library! :) This week's prompt: say'oi dotum a fancy world a hollow spectacle Secondary name: "Paper Lantern Kingdom" Note: the phrase "say'oi dotum" means "Let it burn" in my made up language. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [Verse 1] Welcome to the painted garden Every rose knows when to bloom Every smile is stitched together Every laugh rehearsed by noon Golden birds on silver branches Never miss a perfect cue If you listen long enough They start sounding just like you [Pre-Chorus] Tell meβ€” If the sky was always flawless Would you ever learn the blue? [Chorus] Say'oi... dotum... Let the paper lanterns fall If a world can't bear the weather Was it ever standing tall? All these polished little wonders Built to shimmer, built to stall I'd rather warm my hands beside A single honest flame Than rule a perfect kingdom That forgets my name [Verse 2] There are mirrors in the fountain Teaching faces how to smile Every echo gets corrected Every road the same old mile Someone keeps repainting sunsets Before evening can begin Nothing here is ever brokenβ€” Nothing here gets in [Bridge] Ash is honest Smoke remembers where it came from Fire never promised permanence Only change [Final Chorus] Say'oi... dotum... Watch the gilded curtains sway Every hollow spectacle Was only light arranged If tomorrow builds with splinters If the skyline wears its scars We'll have room to see the heavens For the first timeβ€” As they are. [Outro] The last lantern lost its color Morning didn't.
