Barley

Studio recording, Dark, swaggering desert rock with a thick, dirty bass riff, dry punchy drums, sharp fuzz guitar, and a hypnotic groove, Melodic male vocal with a warm, slightly weathered tone and a laid-back phrasing that turns urgent in the chorus, Playful, seductive, and loud, No crowd, no humming, no ad-libs, Begin immediately with the first lyric

[Verse 1] You were waiting in the corner With your amber in the light I said I’d only stay for one You said, “Sure you will tonight” Got your fingerprints on my glass Got your name stuck in my head I came in looking for an answer Found another round instead [Pre-Chorus] Hops on your breath Barley in your bones Every time I swear I’m leaving You pull me back home [Chorus] Oh, barley, you got a hold on me Gold in the glass and a heart on a sleeve A little bit bitter, a little bit sweet You’re the love affair I can’t leave Oh, barley, pour it slow for me [Verse 2] Some nights you come on heavy Dark as midnight, smooth as sin Some nights you’re bright and reckless And I fall for you again You don’t promise me forever You just meet me where I am With a head of foam and a crooked smile And a cold glass in my hand [Pre-Chorus] Hops on your breath Barley in your bones Every time I swear I’m leaving You pull me back home [Chorus] Oh, barley, you got a hold on me Gold in the glass and a heart on a sleeve A little bit bitter, a little bit sweet You’re the love affair I can’t leave Oh, barley, pour it slow for me [Bridge] Let that bass line roll Let the room spin slow I know how this ends And I’m staying anyway [Guitar solo] [Final Chorus] Oh, barley, you got a hold on me Gold in the glass and a heart on a sleeve A little bit bitter, a little bit sweet You’re the love affair I can’t leave Oh, barley, pour it slow for me [Outro] I said I’d only stay for one You said, “Sure you will tonight”
