前阵子写了一首闽南嘻哈〈铁杵磨成针〉， 结果唱出来更像闽南 R&B。 于是我决定再来一首，认真去体会 到底“嘻哈”是啥物？这首〈嘻哈是啥物〉， 就是我在寻找答案的过程。写到最后才发现，嘻哈不是押韵、不是炫技，而是敢讲真话。 特别感谢师父 ALren @abstractfire055 帮我修润歌词，让我这首歌更贴近嘻哈真正的灵魂。 A while ago, I wrote a Hokkien hip-hop song “Turning an Iron Bar into a Needle”, but it turned out sounding more like Hokkien R&B. So I decided to make another one ， to really explore: what is hip-hop, actually? This song, “What Is Hip-Hop?”, is my journey to find that answer. In the end, I realised , hip-hop isn’t about rhymes or showing off; it’s about speaking your truth. Special thanks to my mentor ALren@abstractfire055, for refining my lyrics and helping me capture the true spirit of hip-hop. 今仔日我写一首嘻哈歌， (I wrote a hip-hop song today,) 唱来唱去总是觉得差一味。 (Singing it over and over, still feels like something’s missing.) 嘛无彼个嘻哈味，到底是啥味？ (It just doesn’t have that hip-hop flavour , what is it, really?) 欲按怎唱，才对味？ (How should I sing to make it right?) 师父讲：「嘻哈就是讲你心内个话， (Master said: “Hip-hop is about speaking what’s in your heart,) 毋免去想字数，毋免去配韵尾。 (don’t worry about the word count or rhyme.) 伊是自由个 flow，毋假，毋装， (It’s a free flow , no pretending, no acting cool,) 想讲啥物，就掷出一拍个骄傲。」 (say what you want, throw it out with pride on the beat.”) 嘻哈毋是唱，是讲个 rhythm， (Hip-hop ain’t singing, it’s the rhythm you speak,) 是灵魂佇 beat 内面跳动。 (it’s your soul bouncing within the beat.) 毋免唱准音高，嘴角嘛欲 swing， (No need to hit perfect notes , let your lips swing naturally,) 咬字若刀，个性若火，气势亲像风。 (let your words cut sharp, your spirit burn like fire, your energy flow like wind.) 一句一句掷出，亲像篮球落地响， (Throw each line out like a basketball hitting the floor,) 嘻哈毋是 act cool，是讲出真心话。 (Hip-hop isn’t about acting cool, it’s about speaking truth.) 毋会就问，毋通歹势， (Don’t know? Just ask ， don’t be shy,) 最歹是假厉害，最好是做自己。 (the worst is being fake; the best is being yourself.) 嘻哈就是写你个世界， (Hip-hop is writing your own world,) 毋惊别人笑，毋惊走歪。 (not fearing laughter, not fearing to stray.) 你若有气势，歪个嘛会帅。 (If you’ve got the vibe, even offbeat looks cool.) 做人嘛是仝款，毋惊做错， (Life’s the same ， don’t fear mistakes,) 最惊是你连按啥欲做嘛毋知影。 (the scariest thing is not knowing what you want to do.) 为啥欲唱闽南嘻哈？ (Why sing Hokkien hip-hop?) 因为我敢讲真话, 这就是 flow。 (Because I dare to speak truth ， that’s real flow.) 选个 BPM 八十到一百， (Pick a BPM between 80 and 100,) lofi、boom bap、trap 攏会通。 (lofi, boom bap, trap ， all can work.) 先念一擺，毋通急， (Read it once, don’t rush,) 找出每个字个重音，落拍像风吹。 (find the stress of each word ， let it fall like a breeze on beat.) 加一寡 Yo、Uh、Yeah，呼吸是空气个 swing， (Add a few ‘Yo’s, ‘Uh’s, ‘Yeah’s ， your breath is the swing of air,) 嘻哈毋是押韵个机器， (hip-hop isn’t a rhyme machine,) 是灵魂佇拍子内喘息。 (it’s your soul breathing inside the rhythm.) 你若敢讲真话个彼一时， (When you dare to speak your truth,) 你就唱出嘻哈个味啦！ (you’ve found the real taste of hip-hop!)
