Walk With The Wise (Proverbs 13:20)

Verse 1 I thought I could stand in the smoke And never smell like the fire I thought I could laugh with the foolish And not learn their desire But little by little The air got hard to breathe And what I kept close around me Started clinging onto me Pre-Chorus I can love them without joining I can pray and still step back There is mercy in the boundary There is wisdom in the path Chorus Whoever walks with the wise Becomes wise Step by step Life by life Whoever walks with fools Will suffer harm So guard your road From a fools folly and charm Let the air clear Let the truth rise Find the ones who seek the light If you want to learn the way Walk with the wise Verse 2 A friend said give it time now Let the old air leave the room You’ve been living in the garbage But it hasn’t buried you So open up the windows Let the sweet wind move Find the ones who smell like mercy Find the ones who walk in truth Pre-Chorus I can love them without joining I can pray and still step back There is grace in walking forward There is strength in not going back Chorus Whoever walks with the wise Becomes wise Step by step Life by life Whoever walks with fools Will suffer harm So guard your road From a fools folly and charm Let the air clear Let the truth rise Find the ones who seek the light If you want to learn the way Walk with the wise Verse 3 Take the things that tried to stain me Turn the compost into ground Plant me near the ones who seek You Where Your wisdom can be found Let me grow among the faithful Where the roots run deep and true Till the scent of grace and mercy Starts to bloom in what I do Bridge The fear of the Lord Is the beginning of knowledge But fools despise wisdom And instruction The fear of the Lord Is the beginning of knowledge So teach me to walk With the ones who seek You Final Chorus Whoever walks with the wise Becomes wise Step by step Life by life Whoever walks with fools Will suffer harm So guard your road From a fools folly and charm Let the air clear Let the truth rise Find the ones who seek the light If you want to learn the way Walk with the wise Tag If you want to learn the way Think of who you’re living with each day.
