The Garage Letters

Hey, it’s been a while— how have you been? I’m doing alright now, somehow. Ah, don’t worry about me. Things are finally starting to go my way. Sorry I made you worry all those years. I can live doing what I love now. I heard you’ve got a family. That’s amazing, man—really, I’m happy for you. I’m still on my own, but I bet you’re living the life you dreamed of. Back then, we both acted tough, never showed a crack, not even once. I kept thinking I couldn’t let you see me weak, but maybe I got that wrong. You saw right through me, didn’t you? My flaws, my fear, my clumsy pride— and somehow, that made me stronger. Because you were there, I never stopped walking. Thank you, my friend, for staying by me all this time. Your belief was the rope that pulled me through every night. I’ve got so many stories to tell, songs I want you to hear. My only treasures are my guitar and my voice, but they’ve become something I’m proud of. Guess we’ve both gotten older, huh? You’ve probably got a few more wrinkles now. But I bet when you smile, you’re still the same guy I knew. I’ll come see you soon— I just wanna see that smile again. Thanks, man. I’m still singing. That promise we made back then still burns in my chest. If you can smile when you hear my song, that’s enough for me. I put down my guitar, crack open a can of coffee, and whisper to the fading sky: “You hear me, right?” I hope this letter reaches you.
