[Intro - engine starts, doors slam, faint radio static] [Spoken] Road trip. That was the pitch. No schedule. No responsibilities. Just us, the highway, and a destination. Seemed simple. Then JewPool grabbed the map. [Band kicks in] [Verse 1] Six bags jammed in the backseat, Coffee rolling on the floor, Nova's fighting with the playlist, Kira wants just one song more. TC packed like we're deploying, Kaelith brought enough for three, Psycho's hanging out the window Yelling something at an SUV. Synnerette owns half the backseat, Tentacles everywhere I look, Then Jex leans forward smiling, Asks if anybody checked the trunk. I said, "Nope, and I ain't gonna." She said maybe that was wise. There's a certain kind of smile she gets That says something might ignite. [Pre-Chorus] Tank is full, Sun is up, Everybody pile inside. I don't know how this ends— But screw it. Let's drive! [Chorus] WE GOT NO IDEA WHERE WE'RE GOING! But we're making damn good time! Windows down and speakers blowing, State lines disappearing behind! Wrong turns! Cheap food! Another hundred miles to burn! If the wheels keep rolling forward, I don't really care where we turn! No map! No plan! Just the road beneath our feet! If I'm getting lost tonight, These are the people getting lost with me! [Verse 2] JewPool grabbed the navigation, Said, "Relax, I've got a plan!" Forty years of desert travel, So he knows this promised land. TC gave me one slow sideways look, Like, "Didn't that take forty years?" I tried not to think too hard about it, Shifted up and changed the gears. Twenty minutes past our exit, JewPool swears we're doing fine. Kaelith's laughing from the backseat, Psycho's reading every sign. Nova tells me, "Ry, we missed it." JewPool says he knew all along. I said, "Man, if this is navigation, Forty years suddenly don't sound long." [Pre-Chorus] Sun is dropping, Gas is low, Somehow we're still alive. Destination's getting questionable— But screw it. Keep driving! [Bridge - instruments pull back] Then we stopped for gas. That was mistake number... Hell, I lost count. [Band begins rebuilding] Jex found fireworks at a roadside stand, And I knew that look immediately. I told her, "No." She hadn't said a word, But that never stopped me historically. She asked what if they're for emergencies. I asked what emergency needs that much flame. She smiled and said, "The fun kind." And that's when I remembered Who the hell I came with. [Band erupts] Five miles later— BOOM! Orange light fills the rearview glass! Jex says, "Wasn't me!" I yell, "I DIDN'T ASK!" And put my foot down on the gas! TC's losing his patience, Psycho's laughing herself sick, Nova's filming the disaster, Kira turns the music up another click! Kaelith's trying not to encourage this, Doing one hell of a terrible job, Synnerette's dancing in the backseat— And JewPool tells me we're exactly Where he said we'd be. I look at the sign. Wrong state. Of course. [Instrumental - frantic highway punk] [Breakdown] Wrong exit! KEEP DRIVING! Bad directions! KEEP DRIVING! Roadside fireworks! KEEP DRIVING! Forty years in the desert— And somehow we're surprised! I swear we're not lost— We're just taking The historically scenic route tonight! [Final Chorus - huge and emotional] WE GOT NO IDEA WHERE WE'RE GOING! And I'm starting not to care! Sun comes up beyond the windshield, Nine idiots still somehow here! Wrong turns! Cheap food! Every stupid lesson learned! Every mile becomes a story We'll exaggerate when we return! No map! No plan! Nothing waiting but the street! And if getting there means nothing, Then the ride is all I need! So turn it up! Roll 'em down! Let another state line disappear! I DON'T CARE WHERE THIS ROAD GOES— LONG AS EVERYONE'S STILL HERE! [Final Refrain] Whoa-oh! Another hundred miles! Whoa-oh! Wrong way in style! Whoa-oh! Let the whole damn world disappear! No idea where we're going... But everybody's here. [Band crashes out] [Outro - highway ambience] GPS says we're recalculating. I look at JewPool. He looks at me. I hand the map to Nova. Forty years, man. Forty. Then Jex leans up from the back And tells me we're gonna need more fireworks. [Pause] I don't even look around. "Keep driving." [Engine accelerates]
