Midnight Coastline
Cruising down the coastal highway, midnight air is thick and warm Tropical heat on my skin, watching the neon city transform Glitz and glamour in the rearview, dive bars flashing red and blue Pretty girls laughing on the corner, just passing through The engine hums a steady rhythm, the ocean roars against the sand Time is flying like a bullet, slipping right through my hand The waves keep crashing, never-ending tide Fast lane living on this midnight ride Then my dashboard lights up with a glow A message from my lady, and the world begins to slow.. The universe stands still for a second or two Full of happy feelings, nothing else I'd rather do I read your words and my heart breaks through Baby, thank you, I love you too. Yeah, the world stops spinning, just for a moment or two... Back to reality, I keep driving down the coast Through the mountains and the deserts, chasing ghosts More glitz, more bars, sailors drinking through the night Shady lanes and flashing signs, underneath the pale moonlight But the scenery is changing, and my mind is somewhere else Away from the crowded streets and the wishing wells Every mile marker that I pass by Brings me closer to the look in your eye Past the sirens and the harbor lights I'm dreaming of those quiet nights Where the universe stands still for a second or two Full of happy feelings, nothing else I'd rather do I read your words and my heart breaks through Baby, thank you, I love you too. Yeah, the world stops spinning, just for a moment or two... Driving down the coast, under the tropical dome Just keeping my head up, hoping to be back home... Soon back home with you.
