SILENCE… broke us One refused to speak The other… nothing to say Enemies instead of lovers A stalemate born in pain HISTORY… unable to move past One gave forgiveness The other… couldn't forget Opposite directions Repulsed instead of attract DIVISION… over time One heart torn out The other… self imploding Two lives destroyed A house wrecked by storm PAIN … the common bond One, what was and is The other… guilt and shame Cause and effect Shattered pieces DECISIONS … can't take back One moving forward The other… looking back Crawling and dragging Heavy, the weight of yesterday THE FUTURE … destroyed One discovered death The other… escaped the pain Living with an open wound Healing not till death SILENCE … forever loud One bearing the weight The other… nothing at all Echoes of haunting past Walking the path of time …….alone
