Midnight Radio (INTERMISSION)

[News Report] In other news, police in the north of England have tonight appealed for calm as investigations continue into a string of disturbing incidents now being linked by both local authorities and the press to an unidentified figure being referred to as the man in the fog. The name, first used earlier this week in a Yorkshire evening paper, follows the fourth unexplained death in less than two months, each occurring on nights of particularly dense mist. In every instance, the victims were discovered in isolated streets, alleyways, or near stretches of common ground shortly before dawn. Detectives say that although the circumstances vary, there are similarities sufficient to suggest that a single individual may be responsible. Officers working across several counties are said to be coordinating their efforts, with Scotland Yard now understood to be offering support. While police have not yet released precise details of the injuries sustained by the victims, they have confirmed that all were found alone, and that no witnesses have thus far come forward with a clear description of the suspect. What has troubled investigators most, however, are a number of strange and consistent accounts from residents living near the scenes. Several have reported seeing a tall man in a dark overcoat moving through the fog in the early hours, always at a distance, and always disappearing before he could be properly observed. One woman from Harrogate, who asked not to be named, told reporters that she saw what she first took to be a lamplight moving inside the mist, only to realize it was a man standing perfectly still at the end of her road. By the time she looked again, he had vanished.
