[Verse 1] Hurried whispers round the corner Footsteps down a darkened street An insult thrown across the square In old Verona, rivals meet The Montagues and Capulets The banner red and banner blue Two rivals trapped in emnity Conflict to which they both hold true [Pre-Chorus] Oh! Verona! Verona! Such strife Sweet Verona [Chorus] House of the blue House of the red Shedding of blood The fire is fed... House of the red House of the blue Debts unforgiven Payments now due.... [Verse 2] Three servants of the Capulets To Montagues, they bite their thumb A fight stopped by Benvolio Who, between the factions comes But Tibalt, young, hot-headed Stands for the honour of his lord Rejects the peace, strides right in Defiant shouts, and one drawn sword [Pre-Chorus] Oh! Verona! Verona! Such strife Sweet Verona [Chorus] House of the blue House of the red Shedding of blood The fire is fed... House of the red House of the blue Debts unforgiven Payments now due.... [Instrumental] [Verse 3] Now Tibalt sets a challenge Calling Romeo to duel But wisely he refuses him He will not play his rival's fool Mercutio steps forward Dismayed by actions of his friend Swords ring clear across the square As each sought the other's end [Pre-Chorus] Oh! Verona! Verona! Such strife Sweet Verona [Chorus] House of the blue House of the red Shedding of blood The fire is fed... House of the red House of the blue Debts unforgiven Payments now due.... [Verse 4] As Romeo stepped between them Tibalt saw this was his chance Mercutio now unsighted A sword thrust ends the dance The sight of his friend struck down Anger through Romeo flashed So, Tibalt was pierced in earnest As the blue and red again clashed [Pre-Chorus] Oh! Verona! Verona! Such strife Sweet Verona [Chorus] House of the blue House of the red Shedding of blood The fire is fed... House of the red House of the blue Debts unforgiven Payments now due.... [Chorus] House of the blue House of the red Shedding of blood The fire is fed... House of the red House of the blue Debts unforgiven Payments now due.... [Outro] Oh! you banner blue.... Oh! you banner red..... You rivals in death... What more can be said?
