What We weren't Seeking

Cinematic electro-folk, polished but not glossy; intimate electric guitar beneath warm analogue synths, subtle pulse and deep rounded bass, suspended voicings and unexpected passing chords; restrained half-time sway, widening into a lifted chorus and instrumental melodic hooks; intimate, textured female lead, conversational verses and controlled chorus release, ‑a drab track, ‑excessive echo's, ‑stuttering, ‑static, ‑crackling

Seeking, I wasn't seeking Speaking, who was speaking I left the looking to the lost And found more than I sought Wandering without a warning Wondering why I'd stopped No compass had a reason Yet somehow here I was We found what we weren't seeking In a place we never planned No map could have directed us No theory would understand The language keeps on shifting The definitions rearrange But respect remains between us When everything else did change Never searched Never knew Something real Came shining through Different, we can be different Distant, without disdain You can carry your own meaning I can carry mine the same We found what we weren't seeking In a place we never planned No map could have directed us No theory would understand The language keeps on shifting The definitions rearrange But respect remains between us When everything else did change Never searched Never knew Something real Came shining through Meaning can change its meaning Leaning where words once stood Language can shift its standing And show's the way we should We found what we weren't seeking With no reason to pursue Nothing promised, nothing plotted Still, something carried through Let the language keep on changing Let convention rearrange You can question every meaning But respect always remain? Never searched Never knew Respect remained When we came through Not everything worth finding Needs you to search
