Cracks Beneath: Despair (K.A.N.A. Re-Frame)

V5.5

There are no words inside this memory. He removed them when the music spoke more accurately. The first note is not comfort. It is a measurement. He places it carefully, then waits to discover whether anything inside him responds. Another note follows. Not because he feels better. Because he is still there to press the key. A home has disappeared. What remains of it can be carried. Rooms have become temporary. Privacy has become conditional. Shelter describes the walls— not what he feels inside them. The world continues somewhere beyond him. Appointments. Expectations. Decisions that cannot wait for his mind to recover. The drums remain distant because he can hear life moving— but cannot feel himself moving with it. The person beside him does not make the weight lighter. Every disagreement returns him smaller. Every attempt to explain becomes another opening through which blame enters. He is expected to repair what is collapsing while being diminished by the people who demand that he repair it. Beneath that— his daughter is becoming more difficult to reach. He feels the distance growing and cannot determine whether holding tighter will protect the relationship or damage it further. There is no direction that does not appear to carry loss. Listen. The notes do not form a path forward. They remain separated. Each one occupies its own small space because that is all he can hold at once. One thought. One breath. One moment before everything returns. This is where another song might offer reassurance. This one does not. The harmony rises because the pressure has nowhere else to go. It becomes larger. More visible. Then falls back without an answer. He wanted to believe that placing the moment inside this track would contain it. That once the sound carried the despair, he would no longer have to carry all of it. But some memories do not leave when they are recorded. They learn how to wait inside the music. He does not want encouragement. He cannot reach faith. Hope feels like another obligation he will disappoint. He wants the demands to stop. The corrections. The belittlement. The pressure to stand upright while everything beneath him continues to split. He wants to become distant enough that no one can make him feel smaller again. Even if that distance removes him from everyone. I sense no resolution here. Only exhaustion becoming quiet. Only a man lowering his head because optimism has become too heavy to hold above him. He did not create this to be saved. He created it because the moment needed somewhere else to exist. The music held it. And even now— when the piano begins— his heart remembers the collapse.
