[Intro] I thought waking up meant arriving, Like one morning I'd open my eyes And every question would vanish, Every weakness would quietly die. But the further I walk with the Teacher, The clearer one thing becomes: The man who believes he has finished Might be sleeping deeper than once. [Verse 1] I found Christ and found a question aimed directly at my chest: If I know what righteousness is, what am I doing with the rest? Not the neighbor, not the preacher, not the stranger that I blame, What happens when His teaching puts a finger on my name? I learned sin wasn't a weapon I could point across the room; It described the very soil where my arrogance could bloom. And that knowledge didn't crush me; it demolished my disguise, Because healing starts the moment I quit blessing every lie. I don't need to call myself good just to feel that I have worth; I can recognize corruption and still understand rebirth. I can say that I was selfish without making shame my god, I can say that I was hateful and then choose another road. That's the strange liberation hiding underneath confession: When defending who I was stops controlling my direction. Christ didn't show me darkness so I'd worship what was wrong; He exposed what kept me sleeping, then He taught me to move on. [Chorus] I'm still waking up, Still becoming, Still unlearning what I knew. Still discovering how pride Can make a lie resemble truth. I don't need to say I've made it, I don't need a higher seat. If I'm walking with the Savior, Let the walking change my feet. Every morning brings another Piece of darkness into view. I have seen enough to know this: I'm still waking up to You. [Verse 2] I learned other people's feelings aren't commandments for my mind, But that never gave permission to leave tenderness behind. I learned boundaries can be loving, learned forgiveness can release, Learned that walking from a battle sometimes demonstrates the peace. I learned accusations aren't automatically facts, But correction shouldn't scare me just because it makes me ask. I learned yesterday can haunt you if you keep preparing meals For the person you once were and every grudge he wants to feel. I learned people may remember who you were ten years ago, And no speech can force their memory to recognize your growth. So stop begging for acquittal from a jury you can't lead; Let tomorrow bear the evidence through everything you seed. I learned knowledge becomes poison when superiority grows, And the man obsessed with winning may forget the One he knows. What good is understanding every doctrine people fight If I use it like a hammer while I'm claiming I bring light? [Verse 3] So this isn't my ascension to some supernatural rank, I don't think I'm more enlightened than the people that I thank. If awakening means anything, it means I finally can admit There are corners in my thinking where I'm probably wrong still. That's not weakness, that's the doorway where improvement enters through; Certainty can become a prison when it never questions you. I want confidence with patience, conviction without disdain, Truth without humiliation, strength that doesn't worship pain. I want love that isn't bondage, mercy that can still say no, Peace that doesn't need agreement everywhere I choose to go. I want courage to confront myself before I confront the crowd, And the wisdom to stay silent when my ego wants it loud. If tomorrow proves me mistaken, let me change without defense; I don't worship my conclusions, I am following Him instead. That's the freedom no position and no label ever gave: I don't have to die defending every thought I've ever made. [Outro] So I won't call this the ending. I won't carve "arrived" in stone. There are depths I haven't entered, There are things I haven't known. But the spark became a lantern, And the lantern showed the road. Now the road keeps moving forward Every time I drop the load. No pedestal. No performance. No resentment keeping score. No surrendering my conscience To the shouting at the door. Just a sinner who saw clearly What he couldn't see before, Following the One who woke him And still reaching out for more. When tomorrow cracks the darkness And another day comes through, I'll rise without pretending That I've learned all I can do. Eyes open. Heart teachable. Pride lower than it was. Still walking. Still learning. Still waking up.
