Shifting Seasons - Under the Western Sun #9

The weight of the world or nothing at all I'm either climbing mountains or I'm crashing back down King of the castle then I'm feeling so small Can't find the middle ground, just trading crown for crown The pendulum swings, something shifts inside Momentum builds until I'm spinning around Can't slow the motion, can't stop the ride Just learning to survive Shifting seasons, shifting seasons Ten feet tall then six feet under Shifting seasons, shifting seasons Lightning strike before the thunder How come I can't tell what tomorrow's gonna bring? The way I feel each morning’s never quite the same Why does feeling good feel like it costs me everything? I'm playing by the rules but can't win the game When did normal start to feel so out of reach? The middle’s hard to find and I’m tired of the shame Life’s giving all the lessons that nobody can teach Just learning to survive Shifting seasons, shifting seasons Ten feet tall then six feet under Shifting seasons, shifting seasons Lightning strike before the thunder Close my eyes, try to find some solid ground Focus on the breath moving in and out of me Hold onto the calm when there's chaos all around Maybe peaceful is something I can learn to be And maybe I can find a way To ride the storms another day Not running from the price I pay Just here, just now, it's okay To anyone who feels the same You're not the only one who's learned to wear the weight We all ride different waves of change But we navigate Some days I'm flying, some I crawl The distance doesn't matter much at all I'm still standing after every fall That's good enough for me I've been making peace with who I am Even when I don't fit in the plan And that's okay So when the pendulum swings wide tonight I'll hold on through the dark and light These shifting seasons taught me how to fight And I'm still here to say (I'm grateful every day)
