秋風が 窓を揺らす 今年の紅葉(コウヨウ)は 思った通りじゃないけれど 楓も蔦も 赤いラインも含めて これが 私の作品 "Nihon No Aki" [Ending – 千秋楽] ラ・ラ・ラーーー ★ Lyric Card: The Autumn Fairy 〜Melancholy of a Certain Romanticist〜 【Preface – English Translation】 I imagined that if an autumn fairy truly existed, life might be a little difficult for them. Japan’s seasons no longer feel like the traditional four— they’re more like “three summers and one winter.” By the time Halloween and Christmas arrive, the true foliage season already feels far away. Perhaps autumn leaves can only be completed with nature’s quiet cooperation. That thought came to me unexpectedly. “I left out both the momiji (maples) and the ichō (ginkgo leaves). They’re cherished by people—admired, photographed, arranged— so the autumn fairy simply keeps her hands off.” 【Full English Translation of the Lyrics】 [Intro] A quiet, deep ambience. Distant sounds of trees and mountains. Warm, chapel-like reverb, small and intimate. (No choir yet—just a delicate, whispered space.) [Verse 1 – Winter: Looking Back] White snow wraps around the mountains, What shade of red were last year’s maples? The pines stay green as always, but the vines and kudzu were a bit unruly. In this quiet midwinter hush, I let out a single sigh— Last year’s dreams ripple far away. [Verse 2 – Spring: Conception] The spring breeze carries the first sprouts. If I were to paint the autumn leaves, what colors would I choose? The blue of Mt. Fuji, the red of maple trees, and even the red lines of the vines— sometimes they waver with doubt. When I think too much, my hands freeze. With the Earth’s heat now, the colors would surely muddy. Time moves slowly— yet vanishes in an instant. [Chorus 1 – Life and Color] My brush holds red and yellow, and with soft strokes, I paint the world. Spring returning is proof of life— confusion and haste turn into color. In this pale autumn, I am alive. La, la, la—— [Verse 3 – Summer: The Push] The summer light stretches on too long, and even my impatience stretches with it. Refining colors, kneading them again, this year’s red is unstable— sweat drips as I wipe my brow. Protected by the deep green pines, I narrow my eyes at the red lines of the vines. Little by little, the colors overlap— and the painting finally breathes again. [Chorus 2 – Variation] My brush paints life itself, coloring the world with Yamasaya. The diffusing yellow feels like the Earth’s warmth. Even summer’s hesitations appear as color— I illuminate this season of sketching with hues of my own. La, la, la—— [Bridge – Foundation: Earth’s Fever and Artistic Doubt] Perhaps the Earth is running a little fever. Summer grows too long, and autumn far too short. The red vines and kudzu show signs of catching a cold. It’s not all humanity’s fault— but it isn’t unrelated either. Each time my hands layer color, I gently feel the Earth’s temperature. Every fear and hesitation— within these autumn leaves, all of them become proof of life. [Chorus 3 – Final: Deepened] My autumn is the breath of the Earth. When I draw red, the world breathes again. The yellow streaming in carries a tone toward tomorrow. Even if I can’t keep up, I want to preserve this moment— this burning season, illuminated by my colors. La, la, la—— [Outro – Autumn: Presentation] The autumn wind rattles the window. This year’s foliage isn’t quite what I imagined— but the maples, the vines, and even the red lines included— this is my… The autumn wind rattles the window. This year’s foliage isn’t what I expected, but the maples, vines, and crimson lines— together, they make my work. “Japan’s Pale Autumn.” La, la, la—— ★ Translation Notes: Kōyō (紅葉): Japanese autumn leaves, often vividly red and yellow. Shiroaki / Hakushu (白秋): poetically translated as “autumn,” can carry a nuance of pale, reflective autumn. Yamasaya (山紗綾): a specific name or motif from the original song; kept untranslated to preserve artistic nuance.
