P.O.I. — Cybernetic Fracture, pt II
White lights hum above my bed, Smoke still talks inside my head, Every nurse walks soft as thread, Like I woke up from the dead. News vans scream beyond the glass, Flashbulbs cut the dark in half, They say “survivor” like a mask, Then ask what I did to the fucking blast. Woke up clean in a burn ward, No skin charred, no death score, White coats stare behind locked doors, God, what am I breathing for? Machines beep like they know me, Heartline skips when they show me, My face blurred on the TV, Headline crawls underneath me. “Lone survivor, under watch,” Words cut cold like hospital gauze, I say his name, they call it grief, Dead men don’t get disbelief. Doctor whispers, “No burns found,” Cop boots drag on tile ground, FBI with their eyes down, Like I’m prey in a nightgown. One said, “Why were you there past midnight?” “Why’d the cooling systems ignite?” Another said, “Why’d the cameras lose sight?” “Why’d the locked doors save your life?” They call trauma “inconsistency,” Call my panic fuckin “hostility,” Every question wears a blade, Every answer digs my goddamn grave... I didn’t light that wicked sky, I didn’t ask the fire why, I only crawled where I should have died, Now they call breathing a crime. P.O.I. — look in my eyes, I didn’t burn it, I barely survived. They fed my name to the fucking lies, Call me guilty ’cause I didn’t die. P.O.I. — chained to the light, White coats whisper while cameras lie. Voice in my skull says, “Stay alive,” But nobody asks why he came that night. Room glass turns to confession, Their silence feels like aggression, Every chart says “impossible,” Every suit says “potential.” I’m not healed, I’m hollowed out, Still hear him through the smoke cloud, News drones circle in the skyline, They sell blood in a byline. “Possible terror tie,” “Subject refused the timeline,” I’m the girl they can’t explain, So, they staple guilt to my name. A nurse wipes ash from my hairline, Says, “Honey, just give it time,” But the clock blinks wrong on the wall, Green light crawls when I fall. Something hums under my skin, Like the building followed me in, They ask where the attacker went, I say, “He died where the steel bent.” They say, “That’s not evidence,” Like my wounds need witnesses, He tried to cut my future loose, Now his ghost still haunts my fucking abuse. Elevator lights go black, Security feeds start to crack, My heart monitor whispers back, “Unknown agents on the track.” Downstairs badges start to clash, Real cops shout, fake ghosts pass, Black suits move through camera glass, No names shown, no questions asked. “Federal transfer, clear the floor,” FBI says, “Show me more,” One nurse locks the patient door, Then the power starts to roar. My screen flatlines, then turns green, Writes one word across the machine, Not a dream, not a fever scene, "RUN" blinks bright where my pulse should be. Sirens stack like broken hymns, Lights cut out, then kick back in, Somebody screams from floor thirteen, Then the wrong side breaches in. I rip the tape from both wrists, Heart monitor screams and skips, Bare feet hit the hallway tile, Blood marks chase me down the aisle. I’m no suspect, I’m no prize, I’m the truth they want to weaponize, Gunshots crack below the stairwell, Radios spit through a dead shell. Doctors duck where the phones fell, Prayer sounds thin in a white hell, They came quiet, then came loud, Black masks moving through the crowd. A young cop says, “Stay behind me,” But his hands shake when he finds me, He saw my monitor writing, Saw locked doors opening blindly. I say, “I don’t know what I am,” He says, “Move, then give a damn,” Every camera turns its head, Every exit pulses to red. Every wall remembers the dread, Every light knows I’m not dead, The thing inside me wakes again, Not crazy, so what the fuck am I then? P.O.I. — look in my eyes, I didn’t burn it, I barely survived. They fed my name to the endless lies, Call me guilty ’cause I didn’t die. P.O.I. — locked in the light, White coats scatter when gunshots bite. Real badges bleed in the hallway fight, Wrong badges came for a piece of my life. Wrong men came with no names, Real cops aimed through blue flames, My monitor screamed through its veins, Then every door locked the fucking same. They called me suspect, called me threat, Signed my soul in government red, I heard boots outside my bed, Then the hospital held its last breath.
