MERCY 014 – Children of the Hollow | The Mercy
(Verse 1) They came from broken towns with names their elders could not save, And slept beneath one patched roof while winter crossed the grave. No bloodline stood unbroken, no family stayed the same, So strangers learned to raise them and to answer when they came. (Verse 2) They spoke in mixed-up languages around the common fire, And learned that being wanted was a bond the lost require. A witness wrote each parenthood beside the child’s new name, For love became survival when no single house could claim. (Chorus) The children of the Hollow grew where shattered families meet, With borrowed songs and many hands that kept them on their feet. They carried every vanished town in stories they were told, And built a living kinship from the ruins of the old. (Verse 3) They watched the faded films that showed the cities full of light, And asked why empty towers had once burned so clear at night. They traced the names in ledgers and the maps of roads now gone, While Beforeborn voices told them how the former world moved on. (Verse 4) They passed the silent Paled where the sealed school corridors lay, And learned the dead were people, not a warning made of clay. The ruins gave them classrooms where the old machines grew still, And every broken doorway taught them memory was will. (Chorus) The children of the Hollow grew where shattered families meet, With borrowed songs and many hands that kept them on their feet. They carried every vanished town in stories they were told, And built a living kinship from the ruins of the old. (Bridge) They had no single ancestry to bind them to the ground, But every meal and witness made a stronger kinship sound. Adoption was no kindness granted softly from above, It was the law of staying, and the daily work of love. (Outro) Now grown, they lead the Houses that their grieving elders made, And question every emergency that never learned to fade. They are not scraps of families or remnants left behind, They are the Hollow’s children, and the future they define.
