The Calling [SSC8, USA]
A dream was calling, Out from the unknown. I sleep better when I'm alone. You're in the city now, Where all the lights glow. Do you ever miss what you’ve outgrown? And, still I sleep so easily. Warm and wrapped, in my sheets, so freely. I keep saying I’m fine, I’m alright, But you still keep me up at night. And, at night, Your memory hits me harder. I spend it just counting the hours, And it feels like I won't sleep at all. But in time, Your memory slips out of sight, And then I’m good for the night. You just make it hard to fall. Suddenly it’s me, And I'm asleep on my own. You’re no longer welcome in My dreams, in our home. Bet you thought I'd crack, but no. Cut you off for good, I should’ve known. I see through you! You just make it harder to fall. It’s gotten easier to forget you. Most days, I can outrun your name. But when I’m on my own, you break right through me, And still, I circle back the same. I’m good once dreaming pulls me free. It’s getting there that troubles me. You pin me down like gravity. Why won’t you just let it be? I’m good once dreaming pulls me free. It’s getting there that troubles me. You pin me down like gravity. Why won’t you just let me be? And at night, Your memory hits me harder. I spend it just counting the hours, And it feels like I won't sleep at all. But in time, Your memory slips out of sight, And then I’m good for the night. You just make it hard to fall. Suddenly it’s me, And I'm asleep on my own. You’re no longer welcome in My dreams, in MY home. Bet you thought I'd break, but no. Cut you off for good, you should’ve known. I see through it all. Yeah you make it harder to fall. Yeah, you just make it harder to fall
