Dear Mr. Wizard

+ Show full styles

Dear Mr. Wizard, I loved you in that movie. The giant talking head with flames was a nice touch and as intimidating as you wanted it to be. But to be honest, I prefer the man behind the curtain. The real man, with flaws and secrets and feelings. The guy with the skeletons in his closet just like the rest of us have. The guy struggling to be more than he is. I know that struggle. I've seen it, I've lived it. Can I give you some advice? The curtain only works for so long, the deception catches up with you. And eventually you find out people already knew you were a fraud even when you pretended they didn't. Because that's how it works. Reality will always win in the end. And people don't like being tricked. So just be yourself. You can't please everyone but at least you can be true and real. No one can fault you for that when you own your faults and accept your flaws. That's the best you can do. Lift the curtain and show the world who you really are. How bad could it be? The haters will always hate, but those who truly love you will still love you. You'll always be the wizard to those who truly know you. And your dream of Oz will always be something to strive for. A place where all the questions have answers and all the answers bring closure. But for now, give yourself a break. Learn from your mistakes. And be the you, you'd want to find when you're in trouble and need help. And there's just one more piece of advice I have. You can't give a BRAIN to someone who doesn't have a SPINE! You can't gift a HEART to someone who has no ability to empathize with others. And you can't force courage on those who insist on being cowards when it's time to step up or speak out. I wish you good luck in trying, but there will always be those people. But you're a wizard, so you'll know them when you see them. All the best to you. Take Care of yourself always. Your friend, Rhonda
