[Verse 1] Stepped out the door Cool as a cartoon king Missed that one last stair Heard my bones go ding-ding-ding (oh!) [Chorus] I knocked my knee And it hurt so bad Did a little hop Little scream Lookin’ real mad I knocked my knee Thought I broke my cool Now I’m limpin’ down the street Like a funked-up fool (hey!) [Verse 2] Neighbors peepin’ out See me clutchin’ my leg One kid points and laughs I’m doin’ that scrambled-egg drag [Chorus] I knocked my knee And it hurt so bad Did a little hop Little scream Lookin’ real mad I knocked my knee Thought I broke my cool Now I’m limpin’ down the street Like a funked-up fool (oh yeah) [Bridge] [Flute solo answering harmonica licks Band drops to bass and claps Crowd shouts “ow! ow! ow!” on the offbeats] [Chorus] I knocked my knee And it hurt so bad Turned my little tragedy To a dance-floor fad I knocked my knee Everybody do the shake If pain’s gonna come We’ll give it all this groove can take (hey! ow!)
