[Intro – Spoken Male Voice] London... Ten past midnight. Another night. Another story. [Verse 1 – Male Lead] Black cab waiting by the station Cold blue light across the road Everybody's got a destination Everybody's got a secret code Red bus rolling through the rain Two young lovers miss the train A businessman is checking his watch While the city never seems to stop [Pre-Chorus – Male Lead] And the faces come and go In the windows, in the glow Nobody knows what the others hide On the streets of London tonight [Chorus – Male Lead with Female Responses] London after dark Running on an empty heart London after dark Everybody plays a part (Female 1: Where are you going?) (Female 2: What are you looking for?) London after dark One more night, one more open door [Verse 2 – Male Lead] There's a girl outside the station Selling roses in the cold There's a man with an invitation To a party he will never know Neon flickers in Soho rain Someone's dancing to forget a name And a thousand little dramas unfold While the night turns silver and gold [Pre-Chorus] And the faces come and go In the windows, in the glow Everybody's got somewhere to hide On the streets of London tonight [Chorus – Male Lead with Female Responses] London after dark Running on an empty heart London after dark Everybody plays a part (Female 1: Where are you going?) (Female 2: What are you looking for?) London after dark One more night, one more open door [Instrumental Break] *Driving synth bass, crisp drum machine, bright repeating synth hook* *Short spoken vocal fragments: London... London...* [Bridge – Female Voices] Round and round the city goes Nobody sees, nobody knows Behind the glass, behind the lights Everybody needs somebody tonight [Male Lead – Spoken/Sung] I watch the people passing by A thousand stories, a million lies And somewhere in this restless crowd There's a voice I haven't heard out loud [Final Chorus – All Three Voices] London after dark Running on an empty heart London after dark Everybody plays a part (Female 1: Where are you going?) (Female 2: What are you looking for?) London after dark One more night, one more open door London after dark Neon shadows, city sparks London after dark We're still searching in the dark [Outro – Spoken Male Lead] Last bus... Last call... Same old London. [Female Voices – Fading] London... After dark... London... After dark...
