Cell of My Own
Intro Behind these bars before the steel even touches the door, Been fighting a war that I don’t wanna fight anymore. Shadows chasing me down, running out of room to hide, Locked in a cell of my own, tearing me up inside. Verse 1 I’m about to be locked up. I’ve been living the past decade like I’m locked up. No longer cause I’m really ’bout to be locked up. I Never knew how to live. Tried on my own and it all fell to shit. Karma’s been hitting me lately, And I absolutely deserve it. No excuses, done some fucked-up shit. I trusted too much. I didn’t love enough. But at the same time, I fucking loved too much. I barely lived, While living some. I was chasing them drugs. Tryna numb everything I’ve done. Shit I can’t outrun. Really choosing that this is it. I’m done chasing a fix. This is critical, Not gunna argue like it’s fixable, Cause it’s not an I’m pitiful. Hook Behind these bars before the steel even touches the door, Been fighting a war that I don’t wanna fight anymore. Shadows chasing me down, running out of room to hide, Locked in a cell of my own, tearing me up inside. Verse 2 Looking at the calendar, counting down the days, Watching my reflection disappear into the gray. They say the truth sets you free, but it locks me in a cage, Turning over chapters of a self-inflicted page. No more bags to pack, no more corners left to turn, Just a bridge behind me that I had to watch burn. Yeah, the handcuffs are cold but the memories are colder, Carrying the ghosts of my past on my shoulder that I can’t get over. I used to think the prison was the walls made of stone, But I’ve been serving time in a mind of my own. Now the siren is screaming, the gavel is down, No more running from the shadow that follows me 'round. If I gotta pay the price, let the ledger be clear, Left the drugs in the dirt, left the ghost of my fear. Gotta look in the mirror, face the man I became, Take the keys to the lock, and survive through the pain. Outro I’m sorry for the choices made. Especially to the ones closest to me. Not looking for sympathy, Just wanting to change what I did to me. I’m tired of affecting others, Living criminally. Focus on finding peace. Even after I’m 6 feet deep.
