[Verse 1] They mocked His name and struck His face Yet still He walked that road of grace The weight of sin was on His back But love kept Jesus on that track [Pre-Chorus] Step by step He chose to stay Giving His life along the way [Chorus] He carried the cross for you and me He bore the pain to set us free Through every wound His love was shown He carried the cross and brought us home [Verse 2] The crowd looked on beneath the sky As Jesus climbed the hill to die No angry word, no turning back His mercy held Him to that path [Chorus] He carried the cross for you and me He bore the pain to set us free Through every wound His love was shown He carried the cross and brought us home [Verse 3] And when I stumble, when I fall I hear the Savior through it all The cross reminds my heart each day How far His love was willing to go [Bridge] No greater love has ever been He took the weight of all our sin The cross became our victory And opened heaven’s door for me [Chorus] He carried the cross for you and me He bore the pain to set us free Through every wound His love was shown He carried the cross and brought us home [Outro] I’ll never forget what Jesus gave The love that conquered sin and grave Forevermore my heart will know He carried the cross to bring me home [The End]
