Barefoot on the rocks, salt on my skin The sea keeps asking, I don’t answer it A boy with a shell, broken and thin Says, “Why do things break?” I say, “To let sound in” He holds it close, listens for truth But silence is louder than youth He says, “There’s nothing” I say, “Not yet” Wait long enough, even silence regrets And I stay While the tide forgets my name I wait For the sea to finish its phrase I breathe In the questions it never explains I stay I stay The boy walks off, the shell in his hand I watch the waves erase the sand The sky turns grey, but I don’t move Some answers come Only when you lose No gods, no thunder Just water and wonder No voice, no proof Just silence and truth And I stay While the tide forgets my name I wait For the sea to finish its phrase I breathe In the questions it never explains I stay I stay Even silence speaks If you stay long enough ............................................................................. 🎬 "Socrates by the Sea" He sat barefoot on the rocks, salt drying on his skin like old truths. The waves asked questions he never answered. A boy approached, holding a broken shell. “Why do things break?” Socrates smiled. “So we can listen to what’s inside.” The boy frowned, then held the shell to his ear. Silence. “Nothing,” he said. “Not yet,” Socrates replied. “But wait long enough, and even silence speaks.” The tide rose. The boy left. Socrates stayed, waiting for the sea to finish its thought. -------------------------------------------------------------- Lyrical Creation: © 2025 SmileBear All Rights Reserved | Copyright ©2025 SmileBear --------------------------------------------------------------
