Two Needles - Ayoa & Kaelo - Bennie Mellies

[Intro — Both] Ooh, ooh Two needles One sky Same light [Verse 1 — Ayoa, Female] I kept my north beneath my tongue Learned every road by walking alone Never trusted hands that pointed Never let another call me home Then the crystal split between us And the water started glowing blue I was still my own direction But something in me turned to you [Pre-Chorus — Kaelo, Male] Mi never came to be your compass Never came to make you stay I just felt the whole world shifting Every time you looked my way [Chorus — Both] Two needles, turning in the same light Two hearts, finding north at the same time You don’t follow me, I don’t follow you Still when we move, the pull is true Two needles, no chains, nothing to prove I keep my fire, you keep yours too We are not halves trying to be one Two needles turning toward the same sun [Post-Chorus — Both] Two needles One sky Same pull Same light Two needles Two hearts Finding north Through the dark [Verse 2 — Kaelo, Male] Mi used to think love need a leader Someone follows, someone leads So I held my fire like armor Never listened to what it needs But you never asked for saving Never asked me to lose my name When your fingers touched the crystal I knew love was not a chain [Pre-Chorus — Ayoa, Female] I don’t need you as my answer You don’t need me as your guide If we choose this road together Let it come from deep inside [Chorus — Both] Two needles, turning in the same light Two hearts, finding north at the same time You don’t follow me, I don’t follow you Still when we move, the pull is true Two needles, no chains, nothing to prove I keep my fire, you keep yours too We are not halves trying to be one Two needles turning toward the same sun [Bridge — Both] We are not two broken halves Begging to be made as one We are two complete directions Turning toward the same sun If tomorrow shifts the current We will listen, we will move Love is not a fixed position It’s the freedom that we choose [Instrumental Break] [Clavinet, wah guitar and vibraphone] [Final Chorus — Both] Two needles, turning in the same light Two hearts, finding north at the same time You don’t follow me, I don’t follow you Still when we move, the pull is true Two needles, no chains, nothing to prove I keep my fire, you keep yours too We are not halves trying to be one Two needles turning toward the same sun Two needles, turning in the same light Two hearts, finding north at the same time You don’t follow me, I don’t follow you Two needles—and the pull is true [Outro — Both] Not behind you Not ahead Hand in hand That’s where we stand No command Nothing to prove Two needles And the pull is true [outro piano] [outro whisper] Ben, Ben, Bennie pon di riddim Mmmmhhhh.....
