[Verse 1] The judgment falls The heavy wood is placed upon Your back A slow and dragging step The dust, the blood, the splintered path You feel the weight of every sin With every breath You're breathing in [Chorus] This is the exchange The Innocent for the condemned You trade Your heartbeat for my own And love me to the bitter end You take the wrath, You take the grave This is the exchange [Verse 2] The mocking crowd The stinging whip, the agonizing crawl You do not turn away You set Your face to bear it all Love has a name, Love has a scar To bring the rebels to Your heart [Chorus] This is the exchange The Innocent for the condemned You trade Your heartbeat for my own And love me to the bitter end You take the wrath, You take the grave This is the exchange [Bridge] The hammer falls The sky turns black The Father's eyes are turning back You feel the crushing, holy weight You cry aloud to pierce the dark "My God, why have You forsaken Me?" [Chorus] This is the exchange The Innocent for the condemned You trade Your heartbeat for my own And love me to the bitter end You take the wrath, You take the grave This is the exchange! [Breakdown] A final, heavy breath. You bow Your head. "It is finished." [Outro] The curtain tears! The earth awakes! Creation cries as the mountain shakes! The debt is paid! The judgment falls! The veil is torn and He paid it all! This is the exchange! This is the exchange!
