That's Why I Share My Songs
Album: The Light Along the Way Why I Share My Songs [Verse 1] I never learned to hold the years, They slipped like water through my hands, Some left laughter in the rooms, Some left footprints in the sand. So I began to write them down, The joy, the heartache and the truth, Not to keep the past alive, But to give a voice to what I knew. [Pre-Chorus] ’Cause sometimes words are hard to find, Until a melody gives them time. [Chorus] That’s why I share my songs, Not to make these songs about me, But maybe someone hears a line And finds the words they couldn’t speak. Maybe a heart that’s hurting Will know it’s not alone tonight. If one song leaves a little hope, Then sharing it was worth the while. That’s why I share my songs. [Verse 2] Music holds what time can’t keep, A voice, a smile, a yesterday, The ones we loved, the roads we walked, The things we meant but couldn’t say. It carries pieces of a life Beyond the years we’re given here, Turns a memory into something Another heart can feel and hear. [Pre-Chorus] And every song becomes a bridge Between the life I lived and this. [Bridge] I’ve learned that life is made of roses, And every rose may bear a thorn. There are days we lose our way, And days when hope is born. I’ve learned that love can still remain When someone has to leave, And somewhere underneath it all There’s still a reason to believe. So I don’t sing because I have The answers everyone should know. I’m still a traveler on this road, Still learning as I go. [Final Chorus] That’s why I share my songs, For those who’ve loved and those who’ve lost, For those still searching for their way, For those who’ve had to count the cost. For every dream that’s still alive, For every tear that had to fall. And if my music touches one heart, Then it has given me it all. I don’t need my name remembered, I don’t need the brightest light. Just let the songs keep traveling Long after they leave my sight. [Outro] A song is just a little piece Of everything we’ve lived along the way. And if it finds a heart that needs it… That’s why I give my songs away.
