[CODEX] - To Chronicle All in the Heart of Contention

HOSI NO MAKIMONO Twenty-Third Release: "[CODEX] - To Chronicle All in the Heart of Contention" There are no lyrics for this song. Instead, I invite you to listen closely and share with me what kind of story it is able to paint for you with instruments alone. To counterbalance my previous track of 15 minutes, I've decided to follow it with a shorter and simpler song. [CODEX] was made from a foundation that I had no clear use for when I initially generated it, but rediscovered and found it had too much potential to simply leave to rot. I hope this end result was able to bring out that potential adequately. Out of everything I've made so far with "Pokemon Battle" as the style, this might be the closest to actually sounding like one. (Fun Fact: Some others aren't meant to, I've just gotten used to the kinds of results that style produces.) This song seeks to depict one whose daily life is embroiled in conflict, seeking to gather all the useful intel they can to aid the efforts of their allies. At every step, they are analyzing their opponents and environment, letting not even a single detail escape from their seemingly closed eyes. Computing, compiling, and chronicling in great detail — every effort in service to the betterment of the war-torn region they call home. All done with a tranquil, impassive smile. To face such a restless reality with such light-footed ease, one must wonder what goes on in the mind of such an individual. Yet in truth, they are far from the enigmatic figure one might assume. Indeed, the drive behind their endless work is deceptively simple: "So long as my friends are able to return home safely, I can keep smiling without worry." Thus do the eyes continue to scour for every morsel of unseen truth. I hope that [CODEX] was able to convey this turbulent conflict and persistent analysis to you, and bring you some small sliver of enjoyment in the process. Please stay tuned for future releases.
