[Verse 1] Here we go— Footprints pressed side by side Against the rising stone Climbing this grand and glowing stairway to Heaven Leaving behind the heavy shadow Of a world below A world that was always too heavy to carry alone [Chorus] Step by step We’re climbing higher Step by step Hand in Hand Step by step We rise together My Lord and I My Lord and I [Verse 2] I cast off the weight The silent burdens, the quiet doubts Unloading the crush of a thousand restless days Onto Your shoulders Breathing in Your grace That tastes suddenly like pure freedom Look ahead where Your radiant light breaks The threshold is unlatched [Chorus] Step by step We’re climbing higher Step by step Hand in Hand Step by step We rise together My Lord and I My Lord and I [Verse 3] The high door swung wide open by You The door swinging wide Welcoming and unburdened, for me No locks, no barriers remain No threshold we cannot cross together We walk this gleaming road into pure ecstasy Where every step feels weightless And every pulse feels alive [Chorus] Step by step We’re climbing higher Step by step Hand in Hand Step by step We rise together My Lord and I My Lord and I [Verse 4] Hey, hey, ha-huh— Feel the rhythm beneath our feet as we rise We’re gonna keep on climbing higher into the sky Where Your love isn’t just holding on It’s beginning to glow Radiating outward, warming the dark For the rest of my days It’s my Lord and I [Chorus] Step by step We’re climbing higher Step by step Hand in Hand Step by step We rise together My Lord and I My Lord and I
