The Preacher: Words

V4.5

They packed the pews, All faithful, some new. The Preacher’s come home To speak to you. The fans spin slow from the beams above, No breeze moves, just the weight of love. More file in, the air gets tight, Shoes scuffin' tile in the broken light. White gloves, wide hats, linen and pride, The Preacher waits quiet ’til the doors close tight. He steps from the side, sleeves rolled and worn, Eyes like thunder… voice like a storm. He spoke like fire, slow and deep. No notes, no charm, just the truth they seek. He called their names without a sound, Brought heaven low, shook holy ground. Each word landed like a nail to wood, Didn’t ask if it hurt, just said it should. A baby cried, a woman swayed, The rest sat still in holy haze. "Hear my words! You lead the herd. Obey the Lord, Thy tongue is thy sword!" "Lift your shame! Speak His name! Walk through the flame, And cast no blame." "Bend no knee For what’s not true. Storms will pass, You conquer you!" They left slow, like the ground might crack, No one dared turn or look back. Dust kicked up as the chapel cleared, But somethin’ stayed… Somethin’ they feared. He spoke like fire, slow and deep. No page, no praise, just the wounds he’d keep. He never begged, never dropped low. Just let the silence steal the show.
