[INTRO] West Texas sunrise, rust-colored scripture, God drew the desert, man drilled the picture. Steel in the soil like a syringe in a vein, we call it a living while it’s killing us sane. Pump. Pressure. Profit. Repeat. Funny how a hole in the earth can swallow a family whole. [VERSE 1] Cooper came curious, college-boy conscience, boots in caliche with blue-collar monsters, worm on the worksite, learning the logic: one loose connection turns brothers to fossils. Flash-fire furnace, the derrick went biblical, break-room laughter became statistical, widows got paperwork, lawyers got literal, oil kept pumping— that part was typical. Crude mathematics: subtract three men, add liability, corporate compassion with capped profitability. Rebecca brought razor-wire legal agility, turning catastrophe into fiscal civility. Tommy’s juggling jugular problems by lunchtime: land rights, fistfights, pipelines and bloodlines, ex-wife in orbit, kids in the crossfire, whole house combustible— hell, so’s the job site. [HOOK] BLACK GOLD— every blessing got a barrel underneath it. BLOOD OATH— every fortune got a family underneath it. DIG DEEP— find the dream, debt, devil in the lease. We don’t drill for oil. We drill till the oil starts drilling through us. [VERSE 2 — double-time] Monty moved millions like molecular math, cardiac capitalism paving his path, governor calls, cartel cartography, petroleum policy married pathology. Military muscle met narco logistics: different contraband, similar statistics. Monty’s motor started missing a measure, heart full of horsepower, bloodstream of pressure— nobody negotiates mineral rights with the Reaper. Tommy gets hooded, hammered, gasoline-baptized, Gallino walks in calm as compound interest, kills his own problem, discusses coexistence. Cartel and corporation— two mirrors in smoke. Both move product through territory, both keep ledgers on loyalty— only difference is one puts a logo on the royalty. Monty dies. Promotion comes dressed like condolences. Welcome to management. [VERSE 3 — Season 2] Cami inherited combustion, M-Tex looked wealthy till Tommy read assumptions: Monty moved money through subterranean functions, Gulf dreams financed by Permian production. Debt dressed designer. Disaster wore diamonds. Cami said drill. Tommy checked the horizon. Gallino brought money— money with manners, money with shadows and cartel accountants. When the devil funds heaven, he puts liens on the angels. Cooper struck crude like a tuning fork, little wells singing with serious future worth, young blood building what old blood ruined first— till Daddy found whose dollars were under the dirt. T.L. came home carrying decades of errors, old scars, old-field parables, cracked mirrors. Maybe toughness is tenderness with nowhere safe to leak. [VERSE 4] Cami wanted wildcat, wildfire, roulette leadership, Tommy brought spreadsheets, storm-cloud readership, she wanted conviction, he predicted the precipice— so she clipped his position for insufficient recklessness. Fired. Chevron called. He declined the cathedral. Why trade one set of shackles for a shinier steeple? So CTT: cattle, crude, kinfolk, consequences, father-son-son with inherited offenses. Workers get pieces instead of just promises— nice little dream with a cartel-shaped asterisk. Gallino bankrolls it. Nothing is free— especially freedom financed by fear. Cooper nearly caught murder protecting Ariana, Rebecca turned courtroom combat to armor— another Norris surviving by influence and commas. That’s the cycle: rig, risk, rich, ruin, rebuild. Boy becomes boss before his blood has cooled. Father becomes son when his father gets old. Everybody swears, “I’ll do different.” Then drills the same hole. [BRIDGE] Maybe oil isn’t the villain. Maybe oil’s the mirror. It puts enough money underground to measure how deep greed goes. It gives damaged men a thousand respectable reasons not to go home. Every pumpjack bows like it’s praying— but nothing in West Texas bows unless somebody put pressure on it. [FINAL VERSE] Black coffee, bad lungs, back against consequence, family rebuilt from beautiful wreckage, pipelines pumping through generational negligence, trying to turn inheritance into intelligence. Monty chased immortality— heart said otherwise. Cami chases legacy— Gallino underwrites. Cooper chases decency through petroleum paradise. T.L. brought the past back to price the present right. Everybody wants energy. Nobody wants extraction. Everybody wants family. Nobody wants distraction. Everybody wants fortune without asking the fraction of somebody else’s life that vanished in the transaction. [FINAL HOOK] BLACK GOLD! [Blood in the balance.] BLOOD OATH! [Love in the damage.] DIG DEEP! [Past all the profit.] What’s at the bottom? [beat stops] Us. [OUTRO] We pull ancient death from the ground... then act surprised when ghosts come with it.
