[Spoken Word - Your Intro - Slow, over ticking clock and rain] Well hello again You're a favorite storyteller here With another scary tale Come Have a seat Watch out for my pets They slither and slide But they do not bite At least not yet Now Let me tell you a tale Of the wandering gentleman With the monocle eye He looks Simple as he passes by But his gentlemanly looks And his gentlemanly smile Hides a monster Full of guile [Music Enters - 3/4 Waltz in A minor - Music box + low cello + violin] [Verse 1 - Soft waltz, almost a lullaby] He tips his hat on Cemetery Hill, Where the cold stones drink the rain, Tunic of fine thread, stitched so well, Hides the wild beneath the name. Soft fingers, oh so soft they seem, A blaze you cannot see, He'll hold your hand so gentlemanly, While counting one... two... three... [Chorus - Strings swell, choir hums] Oh beware, beware, the gentleman, With the monocle eye, That gentle smile is painted on, But his left eye never lies. He'll bow so low, he'll thank you so, As you invite him near, From parlors fine to your home at night, My dear... he's already here. [Verse 2 - Tempo pulls slightly, more urgent] He was laid as a gentleman, so they claim, In a coffin lined with lace, But the hill would not keep him, no, He found a warmer place. A knock, a tap, a polished shoe, Upon your wooden floor, "Forgive me, madam, the night is cruel, May I shelter... just once more?" [Bridge - Waltz breaks, only ticking + whisper] And did you see his smile grow wide? Too wide for any man... And did you see his monocle... Reflect not your face, but your hands? Soft, soft fingers, soft as sin, A touch that burns like fire, He loves to death, he loves too close, He loves you... to expire.[Whispered] [Verse 3 - Grand, tragic waltz - full orchestra] So if you hear a waltz at three, Where no music ought to be, One-two-three, one-two-three, A step behind your chair. Fine thread whispers as he sways, So polite, so debonair, He'll dance you from your parlor, To his hill... and leave you there. [Final Chorus - Slower, dying music box] So beware, beware, the gentleman, With the monocle eye, All the wild beneath the silk, Wears a smile that will not die. He loves to death, with fingers soft, A blaze beneath his glove, Goodnight, my dear, he's found your home... And oh... how much... he... loves. [Spoken Word Outro - Chair creaks] Now... The tale is done. But... Did you lock the door? Because I... I left mine open. ...and I think my pets have found you.
