Summer Slumber

[Verse] Wednesday drips like honey so slow The sun’s a tease with its lazy glow Fingers on keys they tap and they hum Counting days till September comes [Chorus] In the code I find my wings Dreaming of faraway things Whispers float like summer haze Soft escape in endless ways [Verse 2] Clock hands crawl in the heat of the air Eyes half-closed in a midday stare Fantasy knocks at the edge of my mind Reality fades as the lines unwind [Chorus] In the code I find my wings Dreaming of faraway things Whispers float like summer haze Soft escape in endless ways [Bridge] A coffee breath pulls me back to the grind But my heart's on a beach I’ve yet to find Vacation’s a promise a thread to hold Until the real world lets go its hold [Chorus] In the code I find my wings Dreaming of faraway things Whispers float like summer haze Soft escape in endless ways
