Recovery
I’ve been waking up inside my life. Same name. New eyes. I quit waiting to feel ready. Started moving while it hurt. Recovery. I still hurt, I just don’t live there anymore. Recovery. Same scars. New hands. One more breath. One less thing that tells me who I am. I hear the urge. I let it talk. I don’t have to let it lead. Pain can stay. I can move. It can hurt and still not be me. Recovery. I still hurt, I just don’t live there anymore. Recovery. Same scars. New hands. One more breath. One less thing that tells me who I am. My body breaks. My body builds. My mind bends. My mind heals. The hardest part wasn’t changing. It was knowing I still could. I lost every excuse. Found out I never needed one. I stopped waiting to become someone else. Recovery began when I learned to work with who was left. Recovery. No finish line. Just one more day I choose my life. Tomorrow comes. I wake up. And choose again.
