The Watchers came down on Hermon in the days of Jared Two hundred swore an oath beneath the cold starlight Semjaza whispered “I alone will bear the sin” They bound themselves with mutual curses in the night They took the daughters of men who were beautiful and fair Taught them roots and charms and the cutting of the vein Azazel gave them swords and the secrets of the fire And the earth cried out beneath the weight of their refrain [Chorus] O the giants rose three thousand ells high Devoured the children and drank the blood of the sky The cry went up to the gates of heaven And the holy ones looked down and asked why Michael, Uriel, Raphael, Gabriel stood And the Lord said bind them in the valleys of the earth Seventy generations till the final fire Till the plant of righteousness is given birth Enoch walked with God and the angels took him higher He saw the tablets written with the judgment of the years The Son of Man upon the throne of glory And the Watchers trembling in their chains of fear [Chorus] O the giants rose three thousand ells high Devoured the children and drank the blood of the sky The cry went up to the gates of heaven And the holy ones looked down and asked why [Bridge – soft swell of strings] Cleanse the earth of every wrong Let the righteous live a thousand years long Let the vines yield wine in abundance And the nations praise the Name in song [Final Chorus – quiet swell then fade] O the giants rose and fell into the night The Watchers bound until the judgment light The cry still rises from the ancient ground And the holy ones still listen for the sound [Outro] Enoch wrote it down for the generations yet to come A book of the words of righteousness under the sun
