Closing Time

[Verse 1] It’s closing time The lights are down One last song To go around The bartender Shouts out “last call!” (Last call!) Five-to-two says The clock on the wall I’m onstage A spotlight in my eye With a froggy throat I say “goodbye” (goodbye) And introduce My last song As I watch the patrons Move along [Chorus] It’s closing time It’s closing time [Verse 2] There’s a guy Sitting at the bar He’s been there all night While I play I’d like to share A final drink To say “thank you” (thank you) For the late stay I placed the order But now he’s gone (he’s gone) A ghost haunting My Cabaret It must be late If I’m seeing things Two drinks And I’ll be on my way [Chorus] It’s closing time It’s closing time [Bridge] Watch the waitress wiping The tables down The sweetest kid In this ghost town When the lights go out She won’t be alone Our friend at the door Will walk her home [Chorus] It’s closing time It’s closing time [Verse 3] I had too much To drink tonight But seems to make My songs sound right So I’ll treat myself To another drink And cloud my eyes Try not to think My song is done Everyone’s gone home Just me and the staff Here all alone I pack my coat And my guitar And stumble drunk Out of the bar [Outro] It’s closing time (it’s closing time) It’s closing time (it’s closing time) It’s closing time (it’s closing time) It’s closing time (it’s closing time) It’s closing time….
