Intro So this must have been the place to come when you didn’t know what you were searching for. I only believed in the blues and still found something after all that burning. Again and again I knew I was so close. But I had no fuel left anymore. Verse 1 I lost my wife. My job too. But I still have a home. This time I won’t let it burn. I’m staying here. Pre-Chorus Can I stay, or must I move on? That question stays with me. Chorus I let too much burn, so much has turned to scorched earth. My God, I knew the counterfeit and I knew the real thing. But what I have left is fatal too— too much is still burning. Verse 2 The road knows my silence more than my old anger. I carry what remained from the morning, not everything that I lost. Bridge (angry, sad) I let it burn, I saw the ashes, built on what was left behind. Doubt is gone, new worries aboard, but I stay here, I stay here. Final Chorus (slower, sad) I let too much burn, so much has turned to scorched earth. My God, I knew the counterfeit and I knew the real thing. But what I have left is fatal too— too much is still burning. Outro (fade out, whisper) I’m staying here.
