[Verse 1] The year was sixty-four and the porch light burned low Mama said, "Child, keep watch for the things you don't know" Now the old words ring like a bell through my bones When the sky starts moving I won't be alone [Pre-Chorus] There's a sign in the pages in Matthew's warning line A day is coming close and it won't wait for time So I keep my heart awake while the shadows run thin 'Cause the Judge is coming soon and the door can swing [Chorus] One will be taken and the other left One will be taken and the other left I want to be ready when my name is called (One will be taken) (and the other left) [Verse 2] There were sheep and goats by the road-side gate There were wise girls waiting and the foolish ones too late There were hands with talents buried in the dirt And every choice we make tells the story first [Pre-Chorus] So I won't grow sleepy when the night feels long I will love my neighbor I will keep my lamp strong With a faithful answer and a willing hand 'Cause the One who sees it all understands [Chorus] One will be taken and the other left One will be taken and the other left I want to be ready when my name is called (One will be taken) (and the other left) [Bridge] The time we live in is shaking the ground But mercy is calling even now So if I have a moment I will live it true With my eyes on Jesus and my heart on You [Final Chorus] One will be taken and the other left One will be taken and the other left I want to be ready when my name is called (One will be taken) (and the other left) I want to be ready when the morning falls (One will be taken) (and the other left)
