[Intro] [Verse 1] Snow fell thick on rooftops bright, Stars were sharp that winter night, Up above the chimneys high, One wrong step against the sky. Down he fell with bells and cheer, Silence rang instead that year, Sirens sang where sleigh bells should, Doctors shook their heads for good. [Pre-Chorus] “Rest,” they said, “your bones need time,” But magic runs in veins like wine— [Chorus] It was the year Christmas came late, Thirteen days the world did wait, Hearts still warm, no need to hate, Love stood patient at the gate. The year Christmas came late, Snow still sang, the fire stayed, Joy arrived—just shifted date, The year Christmas came late. [children’s choir softly repeats] “Christmas came late… came late…” [Verse 2] Healing fast with winter grace, Laughter back upon his face, Thirteen mornings, thirteen nights, Wrapped in rest and candlelight. When he rose, the bells rang clear, January cold and dear, Sleigh took flight through crystal skies, Wonder glowing in all eyes. [Pre-Chorus] Some returned to old routines, But others kept what that date means— [Chorus] It was the year Christmas came late, January seventh date, Songs were sung and tables laid, As if time itself obeyed. The year Christmas came late, Kept by hearts that celebrate, Two Christmases—isn’t it great? The year Christmas came late. [children’s choir repeats last line in unison] [Instrumental] [Bridge - Nostalgic, Folk-Tinged] Some say calendars may change, But love refuses to be strange, When joy arrives, it finds a way, No matter month, no matter day. [Final Chorus - Full, Warm, Triumphant] It was the year Christmas came late, And the world learned how to wait, Magic bends but never breaks, Time itself will hesitate. The year Christmas came late, Taught us joy is worth the wait, Past and present celebrate— The year Christmas came late. [children’s choir repeats softly as the lead holds the final note] [Outro] Snow still falls… bells still sing… Every day can hold a Christmas thing. [Reprise] [Fade out]
