Fun facts at the end ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [Intro, slow reverb, Verse 1] Can you hear it? The sound of breathing It can't just be me, The walls are heaving... "Just pull the chain-" The chain is so long Scratching the floor A thready dim light Ripples through damp air "Turn off the light." [Chorus] The Nightmare Room Is ever-changing... Never failing to shift the mood. The Nightmare Room Feels like it's breathing... Yes, a sinister shift now fills the gloom. [Verse 2] Straw on the floor Loosely stirs with the sound (Mmmm) A low, rumbled breathing From all around... Mmmm mmm... I reach for the chain Wrapping tight for the pull Mmmmmmm... The sound... breaks the tension... *Click!* *An inhale of breath... Ahh* [Bridge, building, layering instrumentals] The lights go out, I run from the room From the throat of this creature, a grumbling moan I need to escape from this unseen beast What might happen if it chances to feast? *soft laughter* [Chorus] The Nightmare Room Is ever-changing... Never failing to shift the mood. The Nightmare Room Feels like it's breathing... Yes, a sinister shift now fills the gloom. [Interlude, Explosive] [Calm Instrumentals] A crashing behind me A terrible roar... Mmmmmmm... The room is awake... *Click!* *laughter* [Chorus] The Nightmare Room Is ever-changing... Never failing to shift the mood. The Nightmare Room Feels like it's breathing... Yes, a sinister shift now fills the gloom. [Outro, slowing and fading Instrumentals] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Welcome to the end of the song! Thanks for listening :) This is the first time I have explored the idea of adding new lyrics to instrumental pieces, believe it or not. It just hadn't occurred to me that you could use the "Cover Song" function in that way. I'm pretty happy with it, all things considered. The original instrumental piece was actually just the Instrumental Stem from a song I worked on a few weeks ago that just wasn't keeping my interest. Everything about this song's lyrics and composition is different, so I am glad it has worked out. Original Instrumental - https://suno.com/song/829504d2-d90e-4c68-b987-05251c0bf2f1 I've been flipping through some old dream journals these past few days and came across one of the earliest encounters I've had with "The Nightmare Room." The room isn't always nightmarish, mostly just an inconvenience. The interior is random, and in this case it was a mostly bare room with straw strewn across the floor. There was nothing inside save a bare light bulb on the ceiling with a long pull chain, but the whole room felt WRONG. The air was damp and warm, and the walls seemed to BREATHE like a sleeping beast. When I pulled the chain to turn off the light, it went off with a loud crack and the air tensed up immediately. Then the whole dream went full tilt nightmare.
