[Intro] (lock click, champagne pour, soft trumpet) Shh… The night is listening. [Verse 1] I wear a smile like a tailored lie, Silk on my tongue, a star in my eye. Your vault is a poem, your guard is a joke, I breathe in the room and the hinges will cope. They call it “crime” like it’s something obscene— I call it art in a well-cut scene. [Pre-Chorus] A gloved hand, a slow dance, One look and you’ve lost your chance— If you blink, the truth is gone, If you stay, you’re already drawn. [Chorus] It’s a velvet felony—sweet, serene, I steal the crown while you clap for the queen. No gun, no bruise, just a whisper and a bow, You’ll thank me later, darling—don’t ask me how. When the lights go dim, I’m the reason they gleam, Tennant on the job, living life like a dream. Velvet felony—hands up, hearts down, I take what I want and I leave you the sound. [Verse 2] Contracts and cocktails, I sign with a grin, The line between saints and sinners is thin. A diamond says “forever,” I say “until dawn,” Then I’m out the door with your future withdrawn. And if the Storm rewinds your perfectly planned night— I’ll still be the shadow that slips out of sight. [Pre-Chorus 2] Listen close—hear the clock flirt, Time’s a lover that leaves you hurt. So I steal the seconds you tried to keep, And I tuck them away while you sleep. [Bridge] (drop to piano + snaps; spoken) Now tell me… Do you hate me because I’m wicked? Or because I’m right? Because everyone wants the treasure— I’m simply the one with the nerve to take it. (soft laugh) Cheers. [Brass / Clarinet Solo] (swingy, then glitchy tape-rewind flourish) [Final Chorus] (bigger, strings + brass, claps louder) It’s a velvet felony—bright, obscene, I steal your breath like a silver machine. No blood, no war, just a beautiful crime, A kiss in the dark and a theft of time. When the world turns back, I don’t lose my crown— I just change my name and I leave this town. Velvet felony—watch me go… You never caught me, darling— You only fell slow. [Outro] (lock clicks shut, trumpet fades) Good night. And… thank you for your generosity.
