[Intro — whispered, slow, hypnotic] I was watching Blue... Nothing strange, nothing new... Then Steve looked through the screen, And somehow... I fell into him. [Verse 1 — hazy, cinematic rap] Five in the morning, room spinning slow, Blue on the screen with that familiar glow. Steve starts talking, but the words disappear, Everything gets distant, then suddenly clear. I felt myself falling through the television light, Past the smiling faces, past the colors so bright. Past the little blue paw prints, past the cheerful disguise, Until I landed somewhere behind Steve's eyes. No couch. No room. No television glow. Just a hallway stretching somewhere below. [Chorus — haunting, melodic] I fell into Steve's soul, Past the laughter and the show, Found a place nobody knows, Where the innocent colors don't go. Blue's Clues... But the clue was something deeper, Behind the friendly smile Was a man who couldn't sleep either. [Verse 2 — darker, introspective] There were photographs hanging on invisible walls, Little pieces of a life that never felt whole. Every happy memory had a shadow attached, Every laugh sounded different when I looked back. I saw a younger Steve, Still learning how to smile, Trying to make everybody happy While breaking down inside. The room was full of questions Nobody ever asked, How long can you play the happy man Before the character becomes a mask? Then I heard Blue barking Somewhere far below, Not the playful sound from the television show. It echoed through the darkness, Soft and almost sad, Like she knew every secret Steve had ever had. [Pre-Chorus — low, tense] I wanted to leave... But the door disappeared. Then Steve turned around... And he knew I was here. [Chorus — powerful, emotional] I fell into Steve's soul, Past the laughter and the show, Found a place nobody knows, Where the innocent colors don't go. Blue's Clues... And suddenly I understood, Sometimes the brightest rooms Hide the darkest woods. [Verse 3 — psychedelic rap] We walked through memories That changed when I stared, A birthday became a funeral, A smile became a stare. The thinking chair was empty, But something sat inside, A thousand little thoughts That Steve had learned to hide. The notebook hit the floor, Pages turning on their own, Every page was filled with questions He had never spoken. “Who are you without the smile?” “Who are you when no one's watching?” “Who are you when the cameras fade?” I looked at Steve. He didn't answer. He just stared. [Bridge — ethereal, drawn-out vocals] Aaaaaah... Behind the blue... Behind the light... Behind the laughter... Something cried... Ooooooh... I saw the truth... Or something close... Maybe innocence Isn't something you're born with... Maybe it's something You protect. [Verse 4 — building intensity] Then the whole world started shaking, The colors turning gray, The happy little hallway Started peeling away. Steve reached toward me, But his hand passed through, And suddenly I realized... I wasn't watching him. I was seeing me too. Every fear I'd buried, Every thought I'd ignored, Every piece of myself I'd locked behind a door. The darkness wasn't Steve's. It wasn't mine alone. It was every smiling face Carrying something unknown. [Final Chorus — huge, emotional, psychedelic] I fell into Steve's soul, Past the laughter and the show, Found a place nobody knows, Where the innocent colors don't go. Blue's Clues... Now I finally understand, Sometimes you have to lose yourself To see who you really are. Blue's Clues... The screen begins to fade, I wake up on the sofa With the morning turning gray. [Outro — whispered] Blue is still on the screen. Steve is smiling. Everything looks normal. I stare at the television... And wonder... How much of what I saw Was really Steve... And how much of it Was me?
